Compressor short-cycles in summer but runs fine in winter

Seasonal short-cycling is a heat rejection problem. The condenser cannot dump heat fast enough at high ambient temperature, head pressure climbs and the high-pressure switch cuts in. Clean the condenser coil properly — not a wipe, a full wash — and check there is clear air on all sides of the unit. Most of these calls end with a coil packed solid with dust and a unit installed too close to a wall.
